### The Logos became a man “And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.” (John 1:14) John covers the whole spectrum of Jesus’ amazing identity in just a few verses. He starts by stating that the Logos is the divine, eternal Creator who was with God in the beginning and who is God Himself. Then John writes that the Logos came into the world, and in verse 14 he explains how this happened: “the Word became flesh and dwelt among us.” The eternal King of the universe appeared in human form. John has seen Him with his own eyes. He has heard him talk. He has followed him closely for about three years. Jesus’ outward appearance was not “glorious” most of the time. There was nothing special or impressive about the way He looked (see Isaiah 53:2-3!) But the acts and words of Jesus, “full of grace and truth”, revealed his true glory. John realized that he was seeing and touching God, not an ordinary man. When he heard Jesus talk, he listened to God’s own voice. In John 17:24, just before his crucifixion, Jesus prayed: “Father, I want those you have given me ... to see my glory, the glory you have given me because you loved me before the creation of the world.” So, one day, God’s children will see Jesus’ glory in its fullness. Thank you, Jesus, for humbling yourself so deeply in order to save us!
