Coming Judgment
The warning of the man of God was directed at the ineffectual priest and judge Eli, but the Lord’s judgment would also fall on the entire nation. For too long the people had reneged on their commitment to follow the Lord and keep His Law. The Lord would eventually humble them by temporarily withdrawing a symbol of His presence and protection.
