Naomi the Nurse
Naomi’s bitter years ended in joy when her daughter-in-law gave birth to Obed. Naomi became a nurse to the infant, a function taken on by many older women in ancient Hebrew society. Some family nurses were highly honored and served over multiple generations (for example, Gen. 24:59; 35:8).
