The Guiding Star

7 günden 6. gün

The Star Spurs Worship Finally the star stops over their destination. Right over the house of little Jesus. It has been around 2 years since they first saw the star. What a great moment – to see the King of Kings, the bright and morning start face to face, worship and offer their gifts. This is the ultimate joy. They realize that the greatest of Kings do not necessarily live in palaces but in the hearts and homes of the humble and obedient. They see that the most powerful miracles may not be visible to many eyes – only to those who truly seek God. Just like them. Bethlehem does not respond to it. Almost a couple of years back, the shepherds went around sharing the birth of the great King with many in Bethlehem. They were amazed, they wondered, but did they step out to seek this King? The town remains in silence while their King is growing in their midst. In a little while, the sword would come to wreak havoc among their own children, to raise a cry never heard before, across every house. Israel does not acknowledge it. They knew it all. They saw the signs. They even had a direct alert from the King and these royal dignitaries – the Magi. Yet it only disturbs them. Disturbs the comfortable positions they are holding on to. They know that their Messiah would set up a different order. An order where they would scarcely be worthy to be a part of. They are right. Most of them have lost their connection with God. Little did they know that their rejection of the King would lead to centuries and generations of suffering and death of their own. For the Magi however, this was not the end of the road but only the beginning of the journey of a lifetime. There were many who were called across the nation, but few who were chosen – those who chose to undertake this journey – with the only intent to worship Jesus. Their next clue is now an angel who tells them to leave some other way. Jesus’s parents flee with him to Egypt. They safely escape the sword of death. Are we truly serving Jesus in the humble place He has for us? Or are we losing our connection with him while swinging with popular tides? We have another chance to completely turn back today – to worship the bright and Morning Star alone.
