To “chasten” means to discipline. Have you ever been chastened by God?
Being chastened by God in our journey as a Christian is not just punishment; it is God loving us by correcting us. John 10:28 says, “Neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.” Just as we did not earn our salvation by our performance, we do not lose it when we mess up and sin. Just like a parent would punish a child for running toward the street when told not to, God corrects us for doing things that could harm us.
As Christians, if we are chastened by God, we should not run away from Him; we should run toward Him! Why? Because He is the Father who wants good for His children. Take time today to thank God for loving you enough to do what is best for you!
