Cultivating The Giving Grace IV
The excuse most people give for not excelling in generosity is not having enough. Well, their deficiency is not in resources, it is in the giving grace. When you are growing in the giving grace, you will always have something to give! This grace will always put seed in your hand.
The Bible shows us how the Macedonia believers responded to the giving grace at work in them. They have a testimony of giving in spite of their extreme poverty. Ordinarily, their poverty was enough of an excuse not to give, but they weren’t just poor, they were “neck deep” in poverty. You know folks whom the poor would call poor? That’s the Macedonian Christians. Yet they gave in spite of their condition.
The same grace that compelled the Macedonian Christians to give sacrificially is at work in every believer today. The difference is that they exercise and excel in the same grace and their testimony became a worthy model. Many believers’ condition is not as bad as the Macedonian folks, yet they excuse themselves from giving. You see, the Bible idea of generosity is not just giving out of plenty. It is also giving out of poverty. It is giving regardless of your financial reality. So you can’t be too broke to give. You only need to exercise yourself in the giving grace.
Sound Code:
Lord, I refuse to make excuses. I choose to give regardless of my situation. Amen.
