Higher life

Salvation is beyond God restoring man back to the place he was in Eden. God outdid whatever Adam was before the fall. In salvation, God brought us into a superior estate in Christ.

Salvation is not merely a remedy for man’s fall in the garden; it is the original purpose of God for mankind from the foundation of the world. In other words, even in his innocent state, Adam would still have needed God’s provision in salvation to become all that God intended him to be.

In our previous study, we learned that the ultimate gift of salvation is eternal life. This was what God offered Adam in the Garden through the tree of life, but he rejected it. Salvation transcends merely reversing the fall; its purpose is to impart divine life. This is why the end product of salvation is not a better living soul, but a life giving spirit.

We have a higher life in Christ; a superior authority in the name of Jesus; the indwelling of the Holy Spirit; the righteousness of God, which is superior to Adam’s innocence; and the promise of a glorified body, far greater than what Adam possessed before the fall.

Salvation made us God’s greatest masterpiece, one that cannot be improved upon.
