Becoming Love: If We Start at Finish, Where Do We End? (Part 2)

DAY 2 OF 5

Day Seven – Healing the woman with the issue of blood

What would change if you truly believed that Jesus and your deepest struggles were the truest things about you?

In today’s passage, we read about a woman who had been suffering silently for twelve years, carrying her pain in isolation, until one desperate act of faith brought her into a life-changing encounter with Jesus.

From her story, you can learn that the pain you are going through is not who you are. Jesus determines your identity. When Jesus engaged with the woman, the first thing He addressed was her identity in the Father. He calls her “Daughter”. This reminds us of how Jesus teaches us to call God our Father.

There is a new relationship we have with God, where He calls us Son and Daughter, and we call Him Dad.

And it is because we are accepted and belong that this love drives us to go and love the unseen in our city, without rushing past them.

That takes us to the second thing that we learn. The person of love we become in Jesus has the power to transform the lives of those who suffer quietly, too.

This passage is one of the examples given to us of how we should see the unseen - those quietly hurting or struggling.

Theologian Henri Nouwen writes, “To love someone is to reveal to them their capacity for life, the light that is shining in them.”

When we love people, their identity is revealed to them. So, call out the value in those who are unseen! And witness the love of Jesus work through you to bring life where there is death, freedom where there is suffering.

This week, look for someone who feels unseen. Stop, notice, and remind them they are loved and valued—just like Jesus did. Call them by their name, Son or Daughter of God.

About this Plan

Becoming Love: If We Start at Finish, Where Do We End? (Part 2)

The Christian life is not only about knowing truth but about becoming truth in action—people through whom the love of God is made visible in our world. This journey begins as we receive God’s love personally, allowing His Spirit to shape our hearts, renew our minds, and align our lives with His purpose. In this study, we will discover what it means to become love. Note: This is Part 2 of a 4-part reading plan.
