That's Crazy—No, That's God

DAY 3 OF 4

Freedom Is Possible

When I first got out of prison, I thought I was free. But it didn’t take long to realize that freedom isn’t about open doors; it’s about a renewed mind. I had walked out physically, but I was still chained mentally. The pain, the habits, the self-hate…they didn’t magically disappear.

It was in the quiet moments, seeking God, that true freedom started to happen. Jesus didn’t just break the bars around me; He broke the bondage inside me. Galatians 5:1 says, “It is for freedom that Christ has set us free.” It’s not just about escaping something—it’s about entering something new.

Jesus said in John 8:36, “If the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.” Not partially. Not conditionally. Fully. That kind of freedom transforms your thinking, your desires, your destiny.

For years, I was addicted—not just to substances, but to sin patterns that ruled my life. But when the Holy Spirit began to move, I started to realize I didn’t need another program; I needed God’s power. Luke 4:18 says He came “to proclaim freedom for the prisoners.” That wasn’t just a metaphor. That was my life.

Freedom doesn’t mean temptation disappears. But it does mean you’re no longer a slave to it. I’ve had to fight for my freedom, sometimes daily. But I’ve also learned to walk in the authority Jesus already gave me. When you start seeing yourself the way God sees you, the lies lose their grip.

You might feel stuck right now. But I promise, if He set me free, He can set you free too. Freedom is not a fantasy. It’s your inheritance.

Reflection Questions:

  1. What areas of my life still feel like a prison, even if I’ve been set free physically or outwardly?
  2. How can I invite the Holy Spirit to renew my mind and break the chains I still carry?

Prayer:

Jesus, thank You for setting me free—not just from circumstances, but from the chains within. I surrender every thought, habit, and wound that keeps me bound. Teach me to walk in the freedom You died to give me. Help me to see myself through Your eyes, not through my past. Fill me with Your Spirit and remind me daily that freedom is not just possible—it’s already mine in You. Amen.

About this Plan
