Called to Stand Out

DAY 4 OF 6

Let’s be honest: it doesn’t take long to realize this world is messed up.

Scroll social media for five minutes and you will see it. We live in a culture that is constantly shifting its definition of beauty—constantly telling you what you need to look like, wear, or weigh in order to be “enough.” And let us just call it like it is: it is exhausting! What is considered beautiful today will be outdated tomorrow. The standards are shallow. The rules are fake. And the pressure? It is heavy.

But here is what I’m learning—we don’t have to live under those rules.

Psalm 139 reminds us that we are fearfully and wonderfully made. That means we are intentional. Crafted with purpose! Designed by the very hands of the Creator of the universe. And not one part of His creation is accidental, average, or ugly!

God’s standard for beauty does not change with the trends. It is rooted in who He is—and who He says we are.

But here is where it gets real: when we say things like, “I’m not attractive” or “I’m not beautiful,” we are usually not making a neutral statement. We are saying, “I don’t match what the world says I should be.” And when we live by the world’s rules, we let the enemy write the definition of our worth.

That is not just discouraging—it is dangerous.

The world’s version of beauty often leads to comparison, obsession, insecurity, and even destruction. And Satan loves that. He loves when we spend more time critiquing our reflection than reflecting Christ. He loves when we chase perfection instead of pursuing purpose. He loves when we forget that we were already made in the image of God.

But girl, the enemy does not get to define beauty. God does! And He already called you good!

You were not made to live a life obsessed with appearance. You were made to walk in confidence—rooted in truth, clothed in grace, and covered in the unchanging love of the Father who formed you!

So today, let us stop measuring ourselves by a broken standard. Let us live like our souls know very well what God has already said: you are fearfully and wonderfully made. And that kind of beauty does not fade.

Reflection Question: Where have you been silently living by the world’s definition of beauty—and how can you begin replacing that lie with the truth of who God says you are?
