God With Us: Encountering the King This Christmas

DAY 6 OF 7

Day 6: The Just King

Justice is often misunderstood as punishment, but God’s justice is rooted in love. Isaiah 30:18 declares, “Therefore the Lord waits to be gracious to you, and therefore he exalts himself to show mercy to you. For the Lord is a God of justice; blessed are all those who wait for him.”

Justice in God’s kingdom means setting things right. It is not only about judgment but also about restoration. Even when Israel was unfaithful, God pursued them with justice that was laced with mercy, drawing them back to himself.

Every good gift in your life reflects Jesus’s just and merciful heart. James 1:17 reminds us, “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights.” (ESV) God’s justice ensures that his goodness flows into our lives, not because we deserve it but because he is gracious.

This should fill us with hope, not fear. We don’t serve a cold judge, but a loving King who sees us fully and still chooses mercy. In Jesus, justice and mercy meet perfectly. The punishment we deserved was placed on him so we could be clothed in righteousness.

Where do you see God’s just hand in your life? Where has he provided, protected, or restored you? Recognizing his justice turns our hearts toward gratitude and worship.

This Christmas season, let the justice of Jesus comfort you. Even when the world seems unfair, your King is just. He will make all things right in his time.

Prayer:
Just King, thank you for your mercy and justice. Teach me to trust your goodness and live in gratitude for all you provide. In your righteous name, Amen.
