30 Days of Praying for Children and Families

DAY 15 OF 30

Those who are listening to Jesus as he teaches start to bring their little children to him. They acknowledge his power and want him to touch and bless their children.

But the disciples rebuke them and begin to turn them away. Surely Jesus wouldn’t want anything to do with these noisy, silly children?

Yet Jesus invites them to come to him. Gently, he says, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.” (Luke 18:16, NIV)

Jesus shows his caring heart by inviting the children to come to him.

The Church (globally and locally) is to be Jesus’ body on earth – we are to think, speak, and act just as he would have us act.

Just as he was warm, accepting, and welcoming to the children. In a society where the norm was otherwise, so we are called to be.

Our society can often rebuke and turn away children and young people with care experience. But if we are to be like Jesus, we must open our arms and welcome them in.

Prayer

Pray to the God of wonderful plans for children and young people with care experience. Pray that they would have stability, that means they can dream and begin to step into what God has made each of them for.

Pray for this generation of children and young people with care experience, that it will be characterised by vision, ambition, and a pursuit of fullness of life.

Pray for families who love and are raising children and young people with an experience of care, that they will have wisdom that enables children and young people to flourish.
