Yesterday, we read how Tatenda went on a mission trip with his family to share the good news with people in Mozambique. Today, we read two passages of Jesus’ last words to the disciples. A specific assignment he gave them. From these passages, we can learn some important things.

Firstly, we are called to make disciples wherever we go (Matthew 28:19-20). The Greek word that is used here is mathéteuó. This word can be translated as being a disciple and as making disciples. A disciple is a learner. So, we could say that Jesus told his disciples to continue to learn while teaching others what it means to follow him.

Remember how Tatenda was shaking while he was sharing? Stepping out to share with others can be a bit scary, but Jesus promised us a helper, the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit gives power to tell others about him (Acts 1:8) and reminds us of everything Jesus said (John 14:26).

Prayer:

Sit together as a family and pray for each other to be bold in sharing the gospel with others. Thank God that he is willing to use each one of you for his Kingdom work. Ask him to guide you as a family to find your unique role in the Great Commission and ask the Holy Spirit to help you.
