The Priceless Treasure of Christmas

DAY 3 OF 10

Your Savior Didn’t Come to Give You a Holiday; He Came to Give You Hope!

Let’s follow Jesus from Bethlehem to the Jordan River. Sinless, He’s lowered into a watery grave. When He arises, a voice from Heaven declares, “...This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased” (Matthew 3:17, NKJV).

Let’s follow Jesus from the Jordan through His earthly ministry. First John 3:8 (NKJV) declares, “...The Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil.”

When He sees the sick, lame, blind, and deaf, Jesus destroys infirmity and disease. “Then great multitudes came to Him, having with them the lame, blind, mute, maimed, and many others; and they laid them down at Jesus’ feet, and He healed them” (Matthew 15:30, NKJV).

When He sees those bound and possessed, Jesus crushes powers and principalities. “He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love” (Colossians 1:13, NKJV).

When He sees the poor and the hungry, Jesus abolishes the yoke of poverty. “He raises the poor out of the dust, and lifts the needy out of the ash heap” (Psalm 113:7, NKJV).

When He sees those in graveclothes, Jesus declares, “...Loose him, and let him go” (John 11:44, NKJV), even as He breaks the stronghold of the grave. “O Death, where is your sting? O Hades, where is your victory?” (1 Corinthians 15:55, NKJV).

When He sees those trapped in sin, Jesus says, “...Neither do I condemn you; go and sin no more” (John 8:11, NKJV). “For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost” (Luke 19:10, NKJV).

Let’s follow Jesus to Calvary, where He was wounded for our transgressions and bruised for our iniquities. Let’s listen as He lifts his voice to Heaven and cries, “...My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?” (Matthew 27:46, NKJV) only to be raised again on the third day!

He was forsaken so that we might be forgiven. He was rejected so that we might be accepted.

He bore our shame so that we can boldly stand before our Father in Heaven to ask and receive, seek and find, and knock and have every door opened in Jesus’ Name!
