Matthew's Journey: 'The Gifts You Have' (Part 4)Намуна

When Gifts Don’t Look Like Gifts
What if your greatest gift is hidden in what you think is your greatest weakness? In The Chosen, Matthew’s struggle to connect with others makes him doubt his place among the disciples. Yet, this very trait—his analytical mind, his need for order—becomes a strength when he follows Jesus. What might your strength be, friend?
Moses doubted his ability to speak, Gideon felt too insignificant for the task ahead, and Paul wrestled with a persistent struggle that seemed to hold him back. Yet, time and again, God chose these very people to accomplish incredible things. He doesn’t look for those who seem most capable—He empowers those who are willing. What if the very thing you see as a limitation is actually the area where God wants to reveal His strength?
We often assume that our weaknesses are obstacles to God’s work: roadblocks rather than opportunities. But look at how Jesus called people. He didn’t gather the most charismatic, the most confident, or the most talented by human standards. He chose fishermen, tax collectors, and skeptics—people with flaws, doubts, and limitations. And guess what? He chooses you too! What if your self-doubt, your struggles, or even your past mistakes are exactly the places where He wants to demonstrate His grace?
So take a moment to reflect. What is something about yourself that you’ve always seen as a weakness? Maybe you’re not naturally outgoing, but you’re an incredible listener. Maybe you’ve struggled with fear, but it has made you deeply empathetic toward others. Maybe you feel like you lack confidence, but God has placed in you a quiet strength that others lean on. What if your “flaws” are actually divine fingerprints—markings of where God’s power is waiting to be revealed?
Have you ever felt like your weakness disqualifies you? How would Jesus look at the things that the world might deem unworthy? How might God want to use the very thing that makes you unique?
