Transformed by His Promises

DAY 22 OF 30

DESTROY THE ENEMY’S LIES WITH GOD’S WORD

2 Corinthians 10:5 (NIV): "We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ."

Mindful Minute: As far as spiritual battles go, there may not be a more appropriate verse to help us be aware of the enemy’s strategy to get us off course.

It most likely took years to get to this point where we said, “Enough is enough.” We felt ready to see how we could change things. We committed to walking with God through a journey for twelve weeks, and, for some, beyond. We see change. Excited to see something different, we believe God has a better plan.

But just when we feel better, a thought comes into play. “Just this once,” or “No one will know.” Beware, because there it is! It is a thought that leads us away from our commitment and away from God’s plan. That thought allows us to lose integrity with ourselves, and maybe with others as well. It is certainly a thought that will allow us to lose our obedience to following Jesus.

This version of the verse is my favorite because it speaks to “demolishing” the thought. The visualization is like taking a wrecking ball to it! Scripture gives the perfect example of what happens when we engage with something that is in conflict with God’s will. Once Eve entertained having a conversation with the enemy, she engaged with a dangerous adversary who told her choosing to disobey would make things better.

Don’t believe the lie. Demolish and redirect the thought towards Christ!

Prayer: Father, thank you for this reminder. It can be easy to give up and be led astray when things get easier. I don’t want to believe the lies of the enemy. I want to focus on what your plans are for me when I get to the other side of this and can freely choose with confidence the path you’ve prepared for me. I want to capture the thoughts that are not in alignment with you and redirect them toward you. Thank you, Jesus. Amen.

About this Plan

Transformed by His Promises

Break free from destructive behaviors and be renewed by God’s promises—one prayer, one gratitude, one reflection at a time. Life’s struggles, temptations, and wounds can trap us in destructive patterns. But God’s promises bring hope, healing, and transformation. In Transformed by His Promises, spend 30 days renewing your mind through Scripture, prayer, and gratitude journaling. Each day: pray the Lord’s Prayer slowly and with intent, list 10 things you’re grateful for, and record any reflections from your reading. These spiritual practices help break old habits, replace fear with faith, and anchor your life in God’s truth.
