REFOCUS MY PRIORITIES + PURPOSE

Sometimes we get caught up in the minor details—our to-do list, plans, or what everyone else is doing. And we miss where God is calling us to fix our focus. But today, we’re slowing down and asking God to refocus our priorities and purpose. In the sermon Distracted by the Details, we learn that God often disrupts our plans because He wants to develop us and delete something in us. The problem? We let the details become excuses for distractions.

God cares about the details, but that doesn’t mean our focus should always be on them. The truth is, we can easily get caught up in the wrong details. While details do matter, they’re not meant to be our main focus. When we fix our eyes on the priority and purpose God has given us, we can trust Him to take care of them.

To refocus purpose, we first have to define it. Purpose isn’t just about setting goals or chasing achievements. It’s about the why behind what we do. It’s the motive that drives us. When we make God our greatest priority, our purpose stays clear because He’s the One directing us. Our plans may seem logical, even well thought out, but God’s purpose is always greater.

Today is about moving from distraction to devotion. This kind of refocus doesn’t come from trying harder in our own strength. It’s not about self-correction. It’s about surrender. Only Jesus can realign our hearts, redirect our motives, and reshape our lives from the inside out.

Application/ Reflection

Your priorities show up in how you spend your time, money, and energy. Take a step back today and look at where those things are going. Are you overly focused on specific details, or on the purpose God has called you to? Ask Him to reveal where you may be distracted by the wrong things, and invite Him to realign your heart so that what you fix your focus on reflects His priorities.

Prayer

God, today I ask that You expose my motives from a place of love. Thank You for the light You shine, not just on where I’ve missed the mark, but on who You are in the middle of it. Help me align with Your priorities and walk in the purpose You created me for. I surrender my plans and invite You to shape what matters most in my life. In Jesus’ name, amen.
