The Power of Presence

DAY 3 OF 5

SLOWING DOWN

In a fast-paced world, we can learn from Jesus how to slow down and be present in the moment with those around us. In Luke 10, Martha was focused on the tasks in front of her rather than the Savior who came to be with her.

Just like Martha, it's easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of our lives. What if we took a moment each day to slow down and feel God’s presence with us and around us? We can do this by-

-Waking up 20 minutes earlier so that you don’t have to rush to work

-Decide on 3 priorities to focus on for the day instead of overloading yourself with a long to-do list.

-Set a silent reminder on your phone to stop and pray at some point during the day.

Jesus calls God’s people to release themselves from the anxieties of tomorrow and put trust in God’s provisions daily. Psalm 46:10-11 (NIV) reminds us:

Be still and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth. The LORD of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress.

When we let go of the weight of the world, we are free to be present, find joy in the little things, and share God’s love.

Ask Yourself:

-During which times of the day can I slow down and be present with God?

-When life gets fast and loud, who is one person I can slow down with?

Pause to Pray: Dear Lord, thank you for your presence in my life. Ease my mind of any worries or doubts I have today and allow me to slow down and be present in each moment. It is because of your unwavering love that I can walk in peace, knowing I am never alone…

Take a Next Step: Look at your schedule for tomorrow and carve out 10 minutes to slow down and be present wherever you are.
