When it's Time to Pivot

In 2009, I started a business that brought me so much joy. It was fulfilling, fruitful, and had loyal supporters. But by 2018, I sensed a gentle shift; God was calling me into something new. I didn’t abandon everything overnight, but I began leaning in, studying, and surrendering to where God was leading.

In 2019, I began to launch this business, but not without struggle. The truth is, I had built an audience, and it was hard to explain to those who had been my loyal customers that I was doing something different.

Then came 2020, a year of upheaval for all of us. People still wanted what I had always offered, but I could feel in my spirit that God was taking me in another direction. I learned that it wasn’t about abandoning the past. It was about obedience in the present. Sure, this rebrand would seem to require rebuilding an audience as well as a business, which would slow my progress down, yet would it? Does following the path of Christ slow us down or lead us along the road He's always desired for us to travel?

Jesus experienced something similar. As His ministry grew, people clamored for Him, His healing, His teaching, and His presence. Yet, even with all the momentum, he didn’t let popularity dictate His purpose.

Sometimes, our pivot won’t make sense to others. We may even feel like we're disappointing people. But our assignment is to obey God, not to maintain everyone else’s comfort.
