Simply Because
have you ever noticed how often the word “because” appears in the Psalms?
“Give thanks to the Lord because he is good, because his mercy endures forever…
…I give thanks to you, because you have answered me. You are my savior.” (from Psalm 118: 1, 21, GW)
“I will eagerly pursue your commandments because you continue to increase my understanding…
…Lead me on the path of your commandments, because I am happy with them.
…I will walk around freely because I sought out your guiding principles.” (from Psalm 119, GW)
Where does the word “because” lead us?
To the cross. To Jesus. To God’s kindness and grace.
“But God is rich in mercy because of his great love for us. We were dead because of our failures, but he made us alive together with Christ. (It is God’s kindness that saved you.)” – Ephesians 2:4-5 GW
When you live a righteous life and seek God’s way, you experience the joy of faith because that’s what our loving Father wants for you.
Ask yourself:
How can I be more intentional in my relationship with God and experience his kindness?
For reflection:
Lord, thank you for reminding us that we are your children because of your love for us. Amen!
