DAY 11 OF 30

The Practical Presence of God

In the book of Exodus, “The Lord would speak to Moses personally, as a man speaks to his friend.”

Wow! We know God as the Creator, Redeemer, Almighty, Everlasting, and more. His desire is for us to be confident in our relationship so we can talk with him as a friend.

Here's a prayer for when you want talk to God as you would to a friend:

On days like this and in uncertain times, I thank you, almighty God, that our Lord Jesus Christ rescues me! You assure me that those who believe in Christ Jesus can no longer be condemned, which gives me great comfort.
I know that all things work together for the good of those who love you — people like me whom you called according to your plan. What can I say about all of this?
I boldly and confidently proclaim: “If God is for me, who can be against me?”
I know you love me and give me an overwhelming victory in all my difficulties and all the plans you created me for. Thank you for revealing the riches of your glory by making me the object of your mercy while you prepare me for glory.
My faith comes from hearing the message, and the message that I heard is what Christ spoke.
Everything is from you, by you, and for you.
Glory belongs to you forever!
Amen.

Ask yourself:

When God speaks to you as a friend, what does he say?

For reflection:

“When all the people saw the column of smoke standing at the entrance to the tent, they would all bow with their faces touching the ground at the entrance to their own tents. The Lord would speak to Moses personally, as a man speaks to his friend. Then Moses would come back to the camp, but his assistant, Joshua, son of Nun, stayed inside the tent.
Moses said to the Lord, “You’ve been telling me to lead these people, but you haven’t let me know whom you’re sending with me. You’ve also said, ‘I know you by name, and I’m pleased with you.’” – Exodus 33:10-12, GW
