The Power of WordsНамуна

Words are very powerful; they are forces that create possibilities, and we must be conscious of how we use them. We will consider this more intensely. But first, let us consider something deeply profound from our text as a solid foundation to our thoughts in our devotional plan. In our text, Jesus was talking to a group of Pharisees who attributed a miracle He had just done to the devil. Jesus addressed the fact that words are an offspring of what is in the heart. An evil heart will speak evil words. A fearful heart will speak fearful words. A courageous heart will speak courageous words. Simply put, our words are verbal expressions of what is in our heart. Jesus expressed this thought by saying that a good man brings good things out of his good treasury, and the evil person brings evil things out of his evil treasury. Words are reflections of the state of the heart.
We must consider that before our words will be wholesome, our hearts needs to be addressed. One fundamental way to ensure our words are wholesome is to fill our hearts with God's word. The word of God makes our heart wholesome and good, such that when we speak, we speak from the treasury of goodness that has been deposited into our heart. Many people try to change their words but fail because when pressures come what is in their hearts naturally jump out of their lips. We must consider our hearts and fill them with good things for our words to be good.
As we conclude this thought today, don't forget that your words define you. You are your words. What you say shows what you are and what your heart is filled with. Do something about your heart and your words will change.
