One Another: Showing Hospitality

DAY 2 OF 4

Day 2: Hospitality Without Grumbling

Hospitality is more than just opening our homes; it is about opening our hearts. The Bible encourages us to practice hospitality without grumbling, recognising it as an opportunity to serve others joyfully.

Romans 12:13 reminds us to "Contribute to the needs of the saints and seek to show hospitality." This act of welcoming others reflects God's generous heart towards us. When we offer hospitality, we create spaces where people feel valued and loved.

Today, think about how you can extend hospitality in your life. It might be inviting a neighbour for a cup of tea or offering a listening ear to a friend.

Let your hospitality be a channel through which God's love flows to others, transforming ordinary moments into sacred encounters.

Going Deeper
Theologically, hospitality is a reflection of the biblical principle of koinonia, or fellowship. In the early church, believers shared their lives and resources, embodying the unity and love of the body of Christ (Acts 2:42-47).

Hospitality is a tangible expression of this fellowship, breaking down barriers and building community. As we practice hospitality, we participate in the divine fellowship that God desires for His people, creating a foretaste of the heavenly community.

This devotion is based on a sermon by Pastor Aimee Cowan.
