Lord,

When hard conversations happen, I jump to conclusions, especially with my husband. You watch as I make judgments about his intentions—certain I know full well the motive for his actions and words without truly listening. Most of the time, though, my interpretation lands far short of the truth, and it opens the door to trouble. I suspect I have a heart issue. Help me squelch these fast and hard assumptions. Help my heart.

You made my husband, and only You know the thoughts congregating inside of him—those on the surface and others deep within the heart. Not me. Forgive me, almighty God, for the swift judgments I’ve entertained, the conclusions I’ve jumped to. Search my heart. Uncover the lies. Wipe clean the dark smears. Draw me with truth, and unearth these assumptions when they attempt to seed. Open my ears that I might hear well. Embolden me to cast down musings with discernment from above, relying fully on Your understanding.

Praise Your holy name. Thank You for leading me triumphantly.
