Walking With JesusНамуна

Walking with a friend
It sounds funny to say, but I don’t enjoy walking. I know it’s very beneficial for our health and for getting from one place to another – but to me it’s kind of boring. Strangely enough, thinking about this devotion has helped me understand why I feel this way. It’s because I often think about walking for my health as being a solo activity. Walking with a friend feels like a very different proposition.
Thinking today about walking with Jesus fills my heart with delight. Knowing that I am never on my own as I journey through my life is amazing! The blessing of having a friend walk with you through whatever you’re going through is knowing that you always have someone to turn to. Is this true of Jesus? Yes!
Proverbs 27:9 reminds us of something that seems patently obvious, but is worth thinking about more. ‘The sweetness of a friend is better than self-counsel.’
When I think about my friendship with Jesus, I know that He has wisdom far greater than mine. I know that He is faithful and won’t desert me no matter what I share with Him. I know that He won’t get bored of me bringing up the same topic as we walk along our way. I know that when I share how I fail, He holds out His hands to show me that the price for it is paid.
Friendship with Jesus has to be the sweetest possible! Maybe I just need a mate to walk with, someone who can keep pointing me to the sweetest friend of all, who will be with us as we go.

About this Plan

If you feel like you are walking this journey called life alone, take heart! Jesus wants to walk with you! ‘He may let us lead, encouraging us from behind, or be out front leading and protecting us. Other times right next to us as we talk to each other (that’s called prayer).’ (Who Is Your Walking Partner? - Robbie Parkin)
