Faith, Part 1 of 3Намуна

Faith is nourished by God's Word
“So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.” (Romans 10:17)
There is something counterintuitive about believing the Gospel. We humans do not spontaneously come to the idea of a God who becomes human, dies and rises again from the dead. By nature, we have little awareness that we are sinful and deserve God's punishment. We cannot imagine God's infinite love for His creation and for us personally. Yet all these things are crucial elements of the Christian faith.
Paul puts it this way, “What no eye has seen, what no ear has heard, and what no human mind has conceived — the things God has prepared for those who love Him” (1 Corinthians 2:9, NIV).
So in order to believe the Gospel, we need God's own revelation, which comes to us through His Word (the Bible) and through the Holy Spirit. Only then can we be sure that our faith is based on truth, and not on all kinds of lies or nonsense.
How did you first hear about the Gospel? And how is your faith shaped and nourished by God's Word?
