God's Redemption Story (The Gospels)Намуна

The Risen Christ - Day 3
Jesus’s disciples spent three years traveling with him, listening to him, asking him questions, and learning about God in completely new ways. Yet with all that very close contact, they still didn’t get the big picture. They thought he would free Israel from Roman domination. It wasn’t until he walked with them on the way to Emmaus that they finally understood all those prophecies meant he would free them from the domination of sin.
Two thousand years later, we have the benefit of 20/20 hindsight, but we aren’t any smarter than the disciples. In the same way, they needed Jesus to explain Scripture to them, we also need the Holy Spirit and wise counselors to help us understand. We can and ought to read the Bible on our own, but we also need to meet with others, study the Word, and let God’s truth sink into our hearts.
