Jesus appeared to the disciples a number of times after he had risen from the grave, and every time, the Bible says they marveled and couldn’t believe. Something so joyous was too good to be true.
In our skeptical modern world, we apply that phrase liberally. If it seems too good to be true, it probably is. But Jesus really did give up his throne in heaven to become a man, pay our price, and conquer death. The King of kings, Lord of lords, Prince of Peace, Lamb of God is the one astonishing, wonderful, joyful thing in this world that isn’t too good to be true.
He’s just truth.
