Devotions on F.I.R.E. Year OneНамуна

But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king's delicacies (Daniel 1:8).
Have you determined to please the Lord?
Some saints live up to their names. Daniel (God is my judge), Hananiah (the Lord is gracious), Mishael (who is like God), and Azariah (the Lord is my help) are taken captive to Babylon in 605 BC. Clearly God-fearing parents brought up these young men, because they are unwilling to compromise under severe pressure. "Daniel purposed in his heart" to be loyal to his God. The Hebrew verb "purposed" means to put, to set, or to place. Job uses this term translated as "I would commit" in Job 5:8. "But as for me, I would seek God, and to God I would commit my cause-who does great things, and unsearchable, marvelous things without number" (Job 5:8-9). God honored the commitment of great patriarchs and will do the same for you!
Employment Point: Purpose to always please God.
About this Plan

Devotions on F.I.R.E. journeys through the Bible in one year. Each day includes a devotion based on Dr. Burge’s F.I.R.E. method of Bible Study. F.I.R.E. stands for Familiarity, Interpretation, Relationship, and Employment. The F.I.R.E. method and the daily devotions helps readers remember and apply what they read as they fuel the fire in their hearts for God’s Word.
