Devotions on F.I.R.E. Year OneНамуна

Take a clay tablet and lay it before you, and portray on it a city, Jerusalem. Lay siege against it, build a siege wall against it, and heap up a mound against it; set camps against it also, and place battering rams against it all around (Ezekiel 4:1-2).
What object lesson are you communicating to others?
Ezekiel is taken captive by the Babylonians in 597 BC and becomes the object-lesson prophet. God instructs His servant to display a series of symbolic acts, to communicate to those still in Judah about their pending judgment (Ezekiel 4:1-6:7). With humility Ezekiel portrays to the idolatrous nation the displeasure of God through his actions. Obeying the Lord means embracing a childlike faith. Jesus says, "Therefore whoever humbles himself as this little child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven" (Matthew 18:4). Our Lord also demonstrates great humility by washing the disciples' feet (John 13) and dying on the cross (Philippians 2:5-11).
Employment Point: Humble yourself to become God's object lesson to others.
About this Plan

Devotions on F.I.R.E. journeys through the Bible in one year. Each day includes a devotion based on Dr. Burge’s F.I.R.E. method of Bible Study. F.I.R.E. stands for Familiarity, Interpretation, Relationship, and Employment. The F.I.R.E. method and the daily devotions helps readers remember and apply what they read as they fuel the fire in their hearts for God’s Word.
