Devotions on F.I.R.E. Year OneНамуна

Examine yourselves as to whether you are in the faith. Test yourselves. Do you not know yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you?—unless indeed you are disqualified (2 Corinthians 13:5).
Do you give yourself regular self-examinations?
Paul issues two commands to the saints at Corinth, which also applies to us. The imperatives are “examine” and “test” yourselves. Sadly, the Corinthians had scrutinized Paul, but had not looked carefully at their own lives. Socrates said that the unexamined life wasn’t worth living. Wisely the apostle navigates the critical believers to consider who resides in them. His question expects a positive response: “Do you not know yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you?” In the former letter to the same group Paul asked a similar question (1 Corinthians 6:19), and then told them “to glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s” (1 Corinthians 6:20).
Employment Point: Examine your life and make any necessary changes to please God.
About this Plan

Devotions on F.I.R.E. journeys through the Bible in one year. Each day includes a devotion based on Dr. Burge’s F.I.R.E. method of Bible Study. F.I.R.E. stands for Familiarity, Interpretation, Relationship, and Employment. The F.I.R.E. method and the daily devotions helps readers remember and apply what they read as they fuel the fire in their hearts for God’s Word.
