Devotions on F.I.R.E. Year OneНамуна

Thanks be to God for His indescribable gift! (2 Corinthians 9:15).
Do you sacrificially give to the Lord’s work?
The Macedonian believers knew great poverty yet gave generously to meet the needs of the poor saints in Jerusalem. Paul holds them up as an example to the Corinthian saints to imitate. He writes, “that in a great trial of affliction the abundance of their joy and their deep poverty abounded in the riches of their liberality” (2 Corinthians 8:2). In essence, the Macedonians further impoverished themselves in order to meet the needs of poor believers (2 Corinthians 8:4; 9:12).
Jesus did the same. He left the glories of heaven to become like us, so one day we would be like Him. Our Lord temporarily gave up the treasures of heaven to make us rich. We need to follow in the footsteps of the Macedonians and Jesus who made themselves poor for the sake of others.
Employment Point: Care for the needs of the saints through sacrificial giving.
About this Plan

Devotions on F.I.R.E. journeys through the Bible in one year. Each day includes a devotion based on Dr. Burge’s F.I.R.E. method of Bible Study. F.I.R.E. stands for Familiarity, Interpretation, Relationship, and Employment. The F.I.R.E. method and the daily devotions helps readers remember and apply what they read as they fuel the fire in their hearts for God’s Word.
