Everyday GodНамуна

Calm under Pressure
In simple life situations, we need God all the time. One of the most annoying things in life is calling customer service for your credit card, phone company, email provider, internet service, health provider, airlines, DMV, bank, dealership – the list goes on and on. You need God in those moments. Your patience and empathy are put to the test, and honestly, most of the time, we fail.
I try to avoid these moments as much as I can, but being a dad and a husband, this is part of the job description. You can feel the pressure building up: the person is rude, doesn’t pay attention, takes too long to respond, all that builds up and what comes out of that is never pretty. Controlling our emotions is one of the parts where we need God the most. Having a Godly attitude in these cases is important, and you don’t need to go through that alone.
My advice is to pray before you call, (pray in the middle of the call if you can), and keep your mind on Jesus. One thing Jesus was known for was his calmness under pressure; no temptation, no aggression, no insult took him out of the zone. That is the example we have to follow. Remember, if you invite Him, He will go with you anywhere, even to the DMV.
