As I sit and write this devotional today, I am 7 months pregnant. Now there is still some time left until the baby is here but I also feel a real sense of urgency to get ready. I cannot make the time move slower or faster. All that I have been given is today, and all I know for certain is that the baby is coming.
So when reading Paul’s powerful words to the church “But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus;” I can’t help but see parallels of my journey right now, and our journey collectively as a church.
We, the people who follow Christ as our Lord, know that the end is full of hope: Jesus is coming back! But we also have work to do while we are on this side of eternity. So get focused because we have a life-long partnership with God to bring and see heaven on earth!

About this Plan

The letter to the church in Philippi is an incredible example of what it means to live as a follower of Jesus in light of what was accomplished in Jesus' death and resurrection. This book is an essential text for the church as we seek to live the way of Jesus in practice.
