Understand Your Calling

I remember first hearing someone describe homeschooling as a career. I found that hard to swallow. I guess I’d just seen it as an extension of my mothering and homemaking (which is also a career, by the way). The word “career” seemed too grand, which meant I saw my role as small. That had to change.

You may not be earning the big bucks from the school classroom, but how we spend our days is how we spend our lives. Let’s do it with great investment and intention, producing a beautiful outcome. What you’re doing is noble, worthy, and will bear fruit; it is God’s calling on your life or most definitely a part of it. It is not small, unnoticed, or insignificant, so stop thinking of it that way. The overflow becomes very apparent when we start to believe bigger, see from God’s perspective, and hold tight to what God has called us to.
