Doing Right vs. Doing Evil in the Eyes of the Lord

DAY 8 OF 42

Before getting into today's reading, take some time to refresh your memory on where we are in the story of the kings through the video above.

This week in our journey through the Kings, we begin by coming down from the mountaintop experience of victory and accomplishment, and head into the wilderness of loneliness, that is filled with overwhelming doubt, fear, and depression. Yet, as we navigate these dark moments from Scripture, we must look for the glimmer of hope in the faithful presence of the Lord. Because we believe He is with us, even when we don't sense Him. As we enter into each reading, we are encouraged to continue believing that the Lord has a word for us. Let's not skip the opportunity to pause and ask the Spirit of God to illuminate His word through this prayer of illumination:

Prayer of Illumination: Living God, help me to hear Your Holy Word that I may truly understand; that, understanding, I may believe, and, believing, I may follow in all faithfulness and obedience, seeking Your honor and glory in all that I do; through Christ my only hope. Amen.

About this Plan

Doing Right vs. Doing Evil in the Eyes of the Lord

A 6 week reading plan through the books 1st and 2nd Kings. The theme for this plan is: "Doing Right vs. Doing Evil (in the eyes of the Lord)". We will explore the lives of prophets, kings and queens and how they led God's people in the eyes of the Lord. Some choose "evil" and others "to do what's right". How are you living in the eyes of the Lord?
