Doing Right vs. Doing Evil in the Eyes of the LordНамуна

Welcome to the "KINGS" reading plan! Let's begin by watching the video above from BibleProject for a brief overview of 1 and 2 Kings. This video provides helpful perspectives on 1 and 2 Kings and helps apply these timeless truths from God's Word to our lives today! (We believe the Bible is a unified story that leads to Jesus)!
Week 1 of the reading plan lays the foundation for the theme of "Good vs. Evil in the eyes of the Lord". We will read about the rise and the fall of Solomon; the great divide of the Kingdom of Israel; and the final showdown between Elijah, the prophet of God vs. the false prophets of Baal. This first week will require lots of reading to provide a foundation for the stories of the prophets! However, I am confident you can do it! Please don't lose heart! It will get easier!
Helpful tip: Before starting our reading each day, let's take a minute to quiet our minds by asking God to remove distractions. Next, read the provided prayer of illumination for the day. Please don’t skip this. To truly experience the “fullness” of the story, we must encounter the inspiration of the living God!
Today’s prayer of illumination: Almighty God, in You are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. Open the eyes of my heart that I may see the wonders of Your Word; and give me grace that I may clearly understand and freely choose the way of Your wisdom. Amen.
About this Plan

A 6 week reading plan through the books 1st and 2nd Kings. The theme for this plan is: "Doing Right vs. Doing Evil (in the eyes of the Lord)". We will explore the lives of prophets, kings and queens and how they led God's people in the eyes of the Lord. Some choose "evil" and others "to do what's right". How are you living in the eyes of the Lord?
