Doing Right vs. Doing Evil in the Eyes of the Lord

DAY 22 OF 42

Before getting into today reading, take some time to refresh your memory on where we are in the story of the kings through the video above.

This week we will read of God's faithfulness to His covenant people through His prophet Elisha. We will read about many men who did what was evil in the eyes of the Lord. There is still a thread of hope that we see in the little pockets of people who choose to do what is right in the eyes of the Lord. As we navigate through a violent week of battles, vengeance, and death, we can't forget, this is the Word of God; it is for us. There are lessons to learn. Let's take time to truly quiet the noise in our minds; to pray the prayers of illumination (or something like it) and engage with the Scriptures as we listen to what the Lord is teaching us.

Today’s prayer of illumination: Father, since I do not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from Your mouth, make me hunger for this heavenly food, that it may nourish me today in the ways of eternal life; through Jesus Christ, the bread of heaven. Amen.

About this Plan

Doing Right vs. Doing Evil in the Eyes of the Lord

A 6 week reading plan through the books 1st and 2nd Kings. The theme for this plan is: "Doing Right vs. Doing Evil (in the eyes of the Lord)". We will explore the lives of prophets, kings and queens and how they led God's people in the eyes of the Lord. Some choose "evil" and others "to do what's right". How are you living in the eyes of the Lord?
