Jesus Heals the Mute Man

Have you ever lost your voice because of the flu or after singing at full volume at a music concert? It’s an unnerving feeling not to be heard. It’s even more unnerving when you have much to say and are unable to communicate your thoughts with people.

Jesus met a man who was mute because of a demon possession and set him free. The man began to speak and the crowd around him was amazed. Today, the enemy has a similar tactic of making us voiceless. He keeps us mute during moments of injustice by condemning us and making us feel inadequate. He takes away the spiritual authority we have in Jesus’ name and renders us quiet by repeatedly intimidating us and keeping us frightened. He causes disappointment in our lives and stifles a song from rising from our mouths.

Jesus came to set us free from the clutches of the enemy. He died and rose again so that we could silence the enemy’s taunts and threats and to reactivate our spiritual voice. When you choose to sing, even when faced by crushing disappointment, you allow God to restore your voice. When you decide to speak up for the disenfranchised, you allow God to use your voice again. When you take back all that the enemy stole from you in health, peace, and joy, with fresh authority in the name and blood of Jesus, you get your voice back.

God desires that your voice speaks out in faith, breaks chains as it is raised in worship and opens doors because of engaging in persistent prayer.
