More Than Enough

Through his death, Jesus perfected us forever.

Even when you keep making the same mistakes, Christ has perfected you forever.

Even when you fail to reach your ambitious goals, Christ has perfected you forever.

Even when others are disappointed in you, Christ has perfected you forever.

Even when you can’t hold everything together, Christ has perfected you forever.

Even when you’re stuck in your shame and striving, Christ has perfected you forever.

Friend, will you lift your gaze from yourself—from your fears and failures—and look to Jesus Christ, seated at the right hand of God? Because Jesus is our perfect sacrifice, we can have assurance of faith to draw near to God. Because he has secured our future, we can have enduring hope in suffering. Because he sent the Holy Spirit to empower us, our good works overflow out of love. Because he has made us members of his body, we can be encouraged by biblical community. We are enough in him.

We will not enjoy all the benefits of Christ’s perfecting work outside of heaven. The battle to fight the lies with the truth will never be finished until we reach eternity. That may seem discouraging, but we know how the story will end.

I pray you now know your satisfaction and sufficiency is found in Christ alone. I pray you can release your shame from imperfections and your striving for perfection. I pray you would discover true wholeness in Christ. I pray you would set your mind on these truths, believe them in your heart, and walk in obedience to them. More than anything, I pray that the next time you wonder if you are good enough, you will hold fast to a better truth:

I am perfected in Christ.
