Face to Face With Jesus - a Lenten Meditation

Jeremiah has been given the nickname “the weeping prophet”. It’s not the greatest title but it’s a poignant one because he was so committed to his calling and carried it with the utmost care and compassion. He sorrowed for his people, for their sins and their turning away from God. He was instructed by God to speak the words he will put in his mouth and he did it diligently with a broken and contrite heart. Jeremiah also wrote Lamentations, a book of poems that are a tribute to a heart that has bared its grief and brokenness to the only One True God.

As those who love God and live for Him it's very important that we learn to lament. Lamenting is not complaining but is giving yourself permission to grieve openly and honestly before your Maker. It is allowing yourself to be undone in the presence of God so that you can be remade into all that he has desired for you.

Questions to ask yourself
Is there pent-up grief in my life that I haven't dealt with?
Are there things that are burdening me beyond my ability to bear?
Can I let down my guard with God and lament before Him?
