Face to Face With Jesus - a Lenten Meditation

Lepers were considered ceremonially unclean as per Jewish law. They were also social outcasts who were given housing outside the city limits. When they were around regular people they had to shout “unclean, unclean” to alert them of their presence. What a sad existence! Yet when Jesus came to earth and began to minister to people, he didn’t just acknowledge them, he actually touched and healed them. Your read that right- he TOUCHED them. He didn’t care that they may have had open, oozing sores. He didn’t care that they could be contagious. He touched them with compassion and genuine love. It’s beautiful how he addresses the hesitancy of this leper who asked if he was ‘willing’ to heal him by replying that ‘He was willing’!

Our uncleanness, whatever that may look like, does not put off Jesus. He is more than willing to meet you right where you are at and touch your oozing, broken and stinking wounds just to heal and restore you to fullness again. It depends if you'll get vulnerable enough to open yourself up to Him?

Questions to ask yourself:
Is there any part of you that you know is unclean?
Will you call out to Jesus and invite him into your pain?
Will you allow Him to touch the untouchable parts of your life?
