God Made You to Be You

DAY 5 OF 5

God can do absolutely anything (Matthew 19:26). But, let’s be real for a moment, short of divine intervention, you and I cannot. For example, I have accepted the fact that I am never going to be a professional basketball player—unless they lower that hoop a few feet. Even then, it’s a maybe at best. The fact is, we all have limitations. It’s how we decide to view those limitations that makes all the difference. In God Made You to Be You, Sammy the cactus saw being “sticky stuck” in the ground as a huge limitation in his life. Paul would have called it Sammy’s “thorn in the flesh” (pun intended ). After all, that’s what Paul called his own limitation (2 Corinthians 12:7). We all have a thorn of some sort in our flesh, and they’re as individual as we ourselves are. The response to our thorns should be the same as Paul’s: we let God use our weaknesses to show His strength. Because whatever our thorn, or our limitation, God not only knows about it, but He incorporated it into His plan for our lives (Ephesians 1:11). He might use it to keep us humble and depending on Him. Or He might use it to help us reach out to and serve those who carry similar thorns. Regardless, we can trust that God is able to use even the prickliest of our thorns for our good and for His glory (Romans 8:28). Because even though we have our limitations, there’s no limit to what God can do. For the Kids: You’re Not Sticky Stuck In God Made You to Be You, Sammy was sad because he would never be able to “tiptoe like Turtle” or “jump like Jackrabbit.” But being “sticky stuck” as a cactus was all part of God’s wonderful plan to help Sammy’s friends! * Have you ever felt “sticky stuck”? What made you feel that way? * How might God use your “sticky stuck” situations to help your friends? * Has God ever used someone else’s “sticky stuck-ness” for good in the end? We hope you and your child enjoyed this plan. [ Learn more at godmadeyoutobeyou.com. ](http://jamieivey.com/god-made-you-to-be-you-landing-page/)
