God Made You to Be You

DAY 3 OF 5

DAY 3: You Are the Very Best You There Is Why is it so easy for us to look at others and see all that we are not? Instead of celebrating the unique and wonderful way God made each of us, we pull out our mental measuring tapes and, with just a few cursory calculations, we quickly decide that we don’t measure up. If we could—just for a moment even—see ourselves (and all those around us!) the way God sees us, I think we would come away with a very different opinion. Because we are, each of us, handcrafted works of art, made by God Himself. Psalm 139 says it this way: “You knit me together in my mother’s womb.” I don’t know if you’ve ever watched anyone handknit a scarf, or a sweater, or a mitten, but it’s pretty amazing. The piece is crafted one careful stitch at a time, thoughtfully shaped by a design, and created to serve a purpose (Ephesians 2:10). That’s how God made you and me! Not haphazardly. Not by accident or random chance. Rather we are intentionally handcrafted with care, thoughtfully designed, and created to serve a purpose—His purpose. Remember that the next time you find yourself wishing you were more like someone else or could do what someone else does. You are the only you. There will never be a better you than you. You are one of a kind, treasured and adored—and God has important things for you to do! For the Kids: Being a Good Friend In God Made You to Be You, Sammy decided that being Sammy wasn’t such a great thing. Thankfully, he had good friends who were quick to remind him that God had made him awesome and amazing. We all need friends like that—and we can each try to be a friend like that! * What is something special about you? Something that makes you you? * Who made you? Who made your friends? Why is that so important to remember? * How can you help a friend who is wishing they were more like someone else?
