He Leads Me Into Rest (Psalm 23:2)
Ever had nights where your brain just won’t stop? Bills, work deadlines, and family problems all pile up until rest feels impossible. Many of us live exhausted, convinced everything depends on us.
But David says, “He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters.” Notice the verbs: He makes, He leads. The Shepherd is not passive; He actively brings us into rest. Sheep only lie down when they feel safe. Green pastures are not just food; they’re a place of peace and abundance. Still waters are not raging currents but quiet streams that refresh without draining.
Rest isn’t laziness, it’s trust. To lie down when problems remain unsolved is an act of faith, declaring, “My strength comes from the Shepherd, not from my to-do list.”
If life feels overwhelming, the Shepherd’s first gift is rest in His presence. You don’t need every answer before you breathe deeply in Him.
Respond to God’s Word:
This week, carve out 15 minutes daily to set aside your phone, work, and noise. Sit quietly, read Psalm 23, and let God’s presence restore calm to your heart.
