6. SPIRITUAL WARRIORS COME AGAINST THE ENEMY IN THE NAME OF THE LORD, NOT IN NATURAL STRENGTH

David knew that there was power in the name of the Lord. He spoke out boldly against Goliath and prophetically declared that God would deliver Goliath into his hands. In the same way, we don’t spiritually warfare in our own smarts or strategies or strength, but in the name of Jesus Christ.

We need to KNOW THE WORD and ACTIVATE OUR VOICE!

We cannot effectively engage in spiritual warfare in our minds. We must open our mouths! Life and death are in the power of the tongue. Spiritual warfare involves verbal declarations of the power of the name of Jesus. We use the written Word as our foundation.

Jesus modelled this when he was resisting the devil in the wilderness. He said, “It is written”. We’ve got to pick up the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God! If you don’t know the Word, you’ll have no weapon to fight with in the midst of the battle. The enemy isn’t going to stand around and wait while you search online to find an appropriate scripture! You’ve got to have the Word in you. Let’s be spiritual warriors who know how to pray the Word, not just read the Word.

One important note here: we can’t just throw out the name of Jesus like it is a magic pill to fix everything. The seven sons of Sceva tried to cast out an evil spirit without being under the authority of Jesus, and it didn’t end well. We must live under God’s authority in order to claim His authority over the enemy.

When we are submitted to God, He can use us to partner with His intention. This is where knowing and exercising our spiritual authority in the private space is so important. We have to submit ourselves to God before we resist the devil. The more you submit to God in your daily life, and the more you resist the temptations of the enemy, the more spiritual authority you will carry. The more you keep in step with the Spirit, the more you will have the boldness and tenacity to fight spiritual battles and shift atmospheres in the spirit realm.
