The Joy We've All Been Waiting For

Families re-united, doors flung open. The slug:line "Here's to the joy we've all been waiting for". Coles (supermarket) is raising a toast to joy.

Onya joy!

But can joy be the source of joy?

Is there something behind that joy? The grocery store chain surveyed Aussies and 85 per cent of them said that "gratitude" was the key to their joy this year.

Aussies are grateful. Grateful for family and freedom. And in this modern era who could blame them?

But grateful "for what" raises the question" Grateful "to who?" Who do we thank for all this joy?

That's where store's ad falls even as Beautiful Noise, swells like a modern carol in the background.

Christmas tells us that joy comes to us through a person - the Lord Jesus.

Luke 2:10-11 (NIV) reads: "But the angel said to them, 'Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Saviour has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord'

Grateful “for” becomes grateful “to”.

Even grocery store can’t deliver that much joy to your door.
