Six “M”s of Fruitfulness

In 1982, theologian John Stott founded The London Institute of Contemporary Christianity (LICC) to help Christians connect God’s Word with their everyday life. He wanted to practically equip people to “do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus” (Colossians 3:17). For decades, LICC has been producing thought-leadership resources to help God’s people on life’s frontlines.

Today, we’re turning to LICC’s “6Ms” to make this week’s reflections more practical. The “6Ms” are a memorable framework that will help you to show and share Jesus, whatever your context. It’s a toolkit for becoming “salt” and “light”!

Let’s unpack these 6Ms a bit more. Which one most connects with you?

Modeling Godly character means reflecting Jesus to those around you by the way you treat others. You are called to become a conduit of the Spirit’s loving and life-giving fruit.

Making good work involves remembering that whatever you put your hand to is for the glory of God. Your work, paid or unpaid, is a powerful witness for Jesus.

Ministering grace and love speaks for itself. It’s being a safe space for a hurting colleague, going for coffee with someone who’s struggling, or responding gently to someone who’s let you down. The little things matter!

Molding culture involves countering blame culture by admitting your mistakes. It’s forgiving someone. It’s quenching gossip by offering a positive word.

Being a Mouthpiece for truth and justice means standing up often at personal cost to promote good, fair, and just practices.

Finally, being a Messenger of the gospel involves living with an intentionality to share something of Jesus with those around you.

Which M comes most naturally to you? Which one challenges you?

Today, God wants to work through you! Using this framework will help you, as Colossians says, to “do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus” (Colossians 3:17).

Prayer

Loving Father, guide me to live as salt and light, shaping my work, my words, and my relationships with Your love, giving courage to stand for justice, patience to forgive, and wisdom to share Your gospel gently yet boldly, so Your Spirit flows through me.
