Don't Fight Alone

Anxiety often worsens when we isolate ourselves. When you’re alone, your thoughts echo louder, there’s no one there to give you a different perspective or talk you down, and anxiety can grow unchecked.

God created you for connection - first with Him, then with others (Genesis 2:18). It makes sense then that the enemy thrives in isolation. He knows there is strength in numbers, so he wants you divided off from the people of faith who can help you through.

First Peter 5:8 describes the enemy as a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour. Think about a lion in the wild, following a herd of elk, hungry for lunch. What’s he looking for? That one who is separated from the herd. He can devour the isolated one – the one that has no defense from the herd and is easy to pick off. Your answer should be, “No you may NOT!” and stay connected to your herd of faith-filled believers.

Being with other believers can bring you perspective, encouragement, and hope (Proverbs 17:17; 27:9-10). James 5:16 says to confess your struggles and pray for each other so you may be healed. Opening up to a trusted friend, mentor, or small group isn’t weakness—it’s obedience.

Who can you reach out to today for encouragement or prayer? What steps can you take to stay connected, even when you don’t feel like it? Once again, this is something under your control – you can choose! So choose connection over isolation. Reach out to people who will speak life, truth, and encouragement to you. And be that kind of friend to others.
