WHY YOU MUST ASSURE YOUR HEART

When you step out of prayer, the devil often launches his favourite attack—he goes straight for your confidence. He begins to whisper, “Are you sure God heard you? What if nothing changes? What if you are deceiving yourself?” This is why John says, “And hereby we know that we are of the truth, and shall assure our hearts before him” (1 John 3:19). Your heart must be assured in God’s presence, and even more when you leave that atmosphere.

Confidence is a spiritual posture, not a natural personality trait. Someone may be bold in public speaking but fearful in prayer because confidence before God is not natural boldness—it is the assurance of truth in your spirit. David declared, “Though an host should encamp against me, my heart shall not fear: though war should rise against me, in this will I be confident” (Psalm 27:3). That kind of assurance doesn’t come from circumstances; it comes from settling the truth of God’s Word in your heart until it overrides doubts and fears.

Assure your heart daily. Speak God’s Word to yourself until your spirit agrees with it. Remind yourself of His promises until your heart stops shaking. When your heart condemns you, remind yourself that “God is greater than our heart, and knoweth all things” (1 John 3:20). When your heart no longer condemns you, confidence flows freely, and whatsoever you ask, you receive of Him. Build this assurance deliberately, because a confident heart is the engine room of answered prayers.

THOUGHT TO PONDER:
How often do I deliberately assure my heart with God’s Word after prayer? What practical steps can I take to silence doubts when they rise?

PRAYER:
Lord, help me to daily assure my heart with Your Word. Let every whisper of doubt be silenced, and let my confidence in You remain unshakable in Jesus’ name. Amen.
